Grounds Beautification Committee

The Grounds Beautification Committee was established in 1994 by three North Lake ladies – Pat Covek, Pati Schaefer and Marsha Fitzgibbons. They started by decorating/beautifying the North Lake Gate entrance. Because of their efforts, the Village and Association presidents at the time commissioned them to decoratively landscape other areas of Tower Lakes.

They concentrated on their assignments on the Tower Lakes entrances and created many interior gardens which the Committee currently maintains. They received a budget from the Association and grants from the Village to continue their efforts in making the islands more usable for TLIA functions.

The Committee planted shrubs, edged and mulched the lakeshore beds and created gardens including the raised rose garden. The heavy landscaping was done by Carriage Landscaping who has worked for TLIA for over 20 years.

In 2010 they became a standing committee with their own beautification and maintenance budgets. They also started a sub-committee called The Grounds Beautification Garden Club which currently serves as an education committee in a social setting. The club meets during the growing season, provides educational seminars and garden walks.
