President's Update

Hello Neighbors,

As Spring is here, there are a few reminders for our community as we all start to get outside.

There are no dogs allowed on any of the islands. We love to see everyone out walking their dogs but please respect the rule of not allowing them on the islands.

As you start to clean up and get out on the lake, you may see residents working on the shoreline. Please remember that any modifications to the shoreline need TLIA Board approval before any work can be performed. We love the natural look of our lake and shoreline – that is what makes TL so beautiful.

Please take the time to read the 2022 Rules and Regulations. They are on the website and will be distributed to every resident with their 2022 beach tags. A new rule added to the Rules and Regs is that golf carts are not allowed on any TLIA property. This includes, but is not limited to, all of the islands, beach, soccer field, volleyball court, and parks.

We are looking forward to a busy Spring – with the Easter Egg hunt, Lake Clean-up, and the renamed progressive dinner - The Food Crawl!  It is a fun time of year and we look forward to saying hello to everyone as we come out of our homes and get reacquainted.

Happy Spring!

Mary

Ordering Is Now Open for CFC’s Spring Native Plant Sale

Online ordering opened on March 1st and closes on April 17th

ORDER HERE

This year's sale includes more than 350 varieties of native plants, shrubs, and trees, and features a special Mother's Day Garden collection. A great gift idea. To help you plan, there is more information on the order page about the sale including links to CFC's native plant database. Filters allow you to sort by water need, sun, desired color, companion plants, and desired wildlife or pollinator species that you want to attract. CFC is also presenting a program on designing native plant gardens.

Spring Geese Mating Season

As the warmer temperatures move back into our area, the familiar sight and sounds of Canada Geese are all around us in Tower Lakes. The Lake Committee asks for your help spotting mating pairs and nests for the geese around the lake. If you see a goose nest, or a pair of geese inhabiting your yard or another area while you’re out walking or paddling around TL, please contact Will Knight. It is vital that we monitor the number of mating pairs and nests around the lake to assess previous efforts to reduce the number of Canada Geese that are calling Tower Lakes home.

Will Knight can be contacted at willmknight@gmail.com

Member Services

Boats may be placed on racks and at TLIA landings on or after April 15th per TLIA Rules & Regulations. (Be sure you have affixed your TLIA Boat decals.) With Spring Clean-up on April 23rd, be advised that the Grounds team and volunteers will be working the dock areas: grooming for the boating season, adding gravel/stone if required, and trash/brush clearing and pick-up. If you will not be using your boat immediately, please consider waiting after April 23rd to put it on the boat storage racks.

Thank you for your cooperation.

2022 Rules and Regs Highlighted

Each year around this time, the Association Rules and Regulations are reviewed and revised. Each TLIA member will receive a copy in the mail soon and they are posted on our website www.tlia.org.

We have decided to highlight one or two each month in the newsletter in case you don’t have time to read them all at once. Remember, Tower Lakes Improvement Association (TLIA) owns the parks, the lake, the islands (including the Beach), and an easement around most of the lakes that only members and their guests can use and enjoy.

With spring comes warmer weather and more use of the lakes. And so, this month we highlight:

NEW!

GOLF CARTS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON ANY TLIA PROPERTY (including all islands, parks, and the soccer field)

MEMBER ID TAGS

TLIA tags are distributed to members of TLIA as well as to participants in the Recreational Family Pass Program (RFPP).

Each family member should have a current-year TLIA member tag with them when at the beach or fishing. Lifeguards will check for current TLIA tags.
The procedure for guests at the beach will be for the TLIA or RFPP family to notify the lifeguards on duty that they have guests with them. The guests will not need TLIA tags provided they are accompanied by a TLIA member or RFPP participant.

As stated in the By-Laws, if you are unable to accompany your guest, whether fishing from a boat or the shore, ice fishing, or using other TLIA facilities, you must temporarily furnish your current tags to your guests. However, guests may use the beach and tennis courts only when accompanied by a TLIA member or RFPP participant.

Village residents who participate in the Recreational Family Pass Program will have the same privileges as TLIA members. They will have current TLIA tags for each member of their family.

BEACH AND ISLAND RULES

The beach and islands are for the use of TLIA members, RFPP members, and their guests. TLIA members must have their current TLIA tags to access the beach and islands. All guests must be accompanied by a TLIA member when swimming. New Tower Lakes residents should contact the Membership Services Chairman for tags.

Any behavior deemed to be offensive or potentially dangerous may result in the member or guest being asked to leave the islands and may lead to the removal of 1 their access privileges at the discretion of the Board.

  • Food and beverages are allowed on the beach and islands.
  • No glass is allowed on the beach or the islands at any time.
  • Smoking is not allowed on the beach or on islands.
  • No fires or grills are allowed on the beach
  • No overnight camping is allowed on any of the islands without prior permission obtained from the Board, in writing.
  • Dogs are not allowed on the islands or beach, whether leashed or not. Please do not walk your dog on the islands or bring them with you to the beach.
  • Fishing is not permitted in the swimming area, either from shore, stationary beach bridge, rafts, or dock areas. Fishing from boats near the swimming area is not permitted.
  • Fishing is not permitted from the bridges at any time.
  • Fishing poles and hooks are not permitted on the beach.
  • During lifeguard hours, no boats will be allowed within ten (10) feet of any dock or raft facility; boats may NOT be beached on Play Island anytime.
