Tennis Committee

The TLIA Tennis Committee was established in 1973 when the present courts were rebuilt over an old cement slab. The courts were once again rebuilt in 2016 with funds from TLIA and individual member donations. Both courts are striped for tennis and pickleball. The Tennis Committee maintains the tennis courts, gardens, and surrounding areas. It also organizes tennis lessons for youth and adults and plans all social activities including the 4th of July volleyball tournament and a round-robin for tennis and pickleball. Memorial Day and Labor Day round-robin tournaments, as well as a seasonal men’s tournament, may also be planned. The courts are for the use of TLIA members and their guests and are for tennis and pickleball playing only. Please note that first and foremost of importance to the TLIA Tennis committee is safety, thus no alcoholic beverages in any type of container are allowed on the courts at any time. Please follow the health and safety guidelines issued by state and local government and health authorities regarding Covid-19. Players are encouraged to bring their own water, wipes, and/or hand sanitizer.

Youth tennis lessons start after the conclusion of the school year in June and run through the first week in August on Monday-Thursday mornings. Participants are aged kindergarten to 8th grade. Instructors are qualified tennis players who have played tennis at the high school and/or college level.

Adult lessons are on Friday and Saturday mornings starting in June until the end of July. These are taught by a professional from the Crystal Lake Racket Club.

In addition to scheduled tennis lessons, the courts are reserved for the following groups:

Tuesday  – Pickleball drop-in at 6:00 p.m.

Wednesday – Men drop-in tennis at 5:30 pm

Thursday – Women drop-in tennis at 6:00 p.m

Sunday- Men drop-in tennis at 9:00 a.m.
