TLIA Board Meetings are held on the 2nd Monday of every month at the Tower Lakes Village Hall.
Note from Editors:
In error, we misprinted the June Board meeting minutes in the July newsletter as approved. As of publication, the June meeting minutes were not approved, and instead, we should have posted the approved May meeting minutes.
Due to the error, we have posted the approved May and (now approved) June Board Meeting minutes for viewing.
Our apologies.
Thank you to the Events Committee for a wonderful Fourth of July celebration!

Welcome New Neighbors
We have welcomed many new residents who were here just in time to enjoy the wonderful July 4th events!
James & Megan McKillen - 404 E. Lake Shore Drive
The McKillen Family is excited to have another son and daughter-in-law move here to join the Tower Lakes Family. James and Megan have lived in Lincoln Park for the past ten years and are moving here with their two children – James, who is almost two years old, and Charlie, who is one month old. They enjoy biking and admit they will miss the divvy bike program in the city. (Maybe they will start a biking rental program here!!). They are looking forward to suburban life with their family and more travel when the kids are older.
Katie Schullian- 503 E. Lake Shore Drive
Our new neighbor, Katie, has lived in many parts of the U.S. and has stories to share. She moved here recently from the island of Oahu. Katie is a retired Navy captain after 31 years and a graduate of the Naval Academy. She has lived in Virginia Beach, Newport, Rhode Island, Hawaii, San Diego and Monterey, and the Virginia/DC area. She moved here as she has family in the Chicago suburban area. Katie is a volleyball player and loves gardening, cooking, and baking – a perfect match for Tower Lakes! She is excited about meeting everyone here, so say hello when you see her.
Jerry & Edyta Szylke - 416 Oxford Road
Jerry & Edyta are working hard to renovate their new home on Oxford Road. They are moving here from Palatine and are originally from Poland. Jerry is in the construction business, and Edyta is a stay-at-home mom. Their daughter, Pola, is five years old and starting kindergarten at NBS in the fall. Pola says she loves dance nights at home, watching movies with her family, and bike riding. She has three older siblings who live elsewhere. The family is very excited about meeting other families in Tower Lakes. Look for them on the TL beach!!

Secure Boats at Landings
If you’re like the editors of this newsletter, you likely have seen the large number of emails of late mentioning items that are floating in the lakes: paddles, pool noodles, stand-up paddle boards, etc. As you wrap up your day after enjoying the many amenities of Tower Lakes, please take a moment or two to ensure that you have all of your belongings and that you secure your boat(s) at one of our 15(!) boat landings.
Thank you in advance!

4th of July Wrap-Up
THANK YOU from the Events Committee
The Events Committee would like to give a HUGE thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers and event leads for helping to make this year’s Fourth of July a huge success! We truly cannot do this without your help.
We kicked off the weekend on Friday night with a “boot scootin’ boogie” Adult Social, with several people trying their hand on the mechanical bull. Festivities continued on Saturday with the fishing derby (see pictures and winners below), pony rides, basketball shootout, bingo, and the bags tournament. The evening concluded with music from Peter Quinn & Harry Reinhart. Sunday started with an animal show and a pie and donut eating contest, followed by beach events such as the sandcastle contest, tug-o-war, and kayak and canoe races. Sunday evening’s entertainment included the “Youth’ve Got Talent” competition and live music from some familiar faces, the Tower Lakes Jammers. Monday the 4th kicked off with the annual Tower Lakes Parade and pancake breakfast and finished with the home run derby and volleyball tournament.
We had picture-perfect weather all weekend, and it was great to see so many familiar folks and plenty of new faces on the islands.
A look back at the TL 4th of July festivities.
